Westergloor dealership armed robbery: Five vehicles stolen

Unknown number of robbers steal five vehicles from Westergloor dealership at gunpoint.

Randfontein Police are investigating a case of business robbery after a car dealership was targeted in Westergloor last Friday, 13 March.

According to Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the robbers pretended to be customers and suddenly, at gunpoint, demanded the keys to five motor vehicles.

“The robbers took five vehicles that were parked outside, namely a blue Toyota Corolla with registration number HRW906MP; a white Nissan Almera with registration number FW53CWGP; a white Ford Ranger with registration number DB51VSGP; a Nissan NP300 Hardbody with registration number DR40FFGP; and a silver Hyundai IX35 with registration number BD22TDGP. In addition, the criminals took two cellphones,” she said.

In light of this incident as well as a number of other business robberies in town, Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police station commander, strongly advised businesses to strengthen their relationship with the police and participate in safety initiatives.

He advised businesses to practice the following safety precautions:

• Always stay alert

• Ensure visibility

• Install security devices

• Use deterrence signage such as security-camera warnings, alarm-system signs and security-patrol warnings

• Hire security personnel
