Crime discussed in Mohlakeng

Various crimes and concerns discussed at community meeting in Mohlakeng.

The Randfontein Police’s Social Crime Prevention Unit and Youth Desk, led by commander Captain Ntlabidi David Maponya, ward councillors and Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) members held a community meeting at Thuto Lehakwe High School in Mohlakeng last week.

According to Constable Portia Mabala of the Randfontein Police’s Social Crime Prevention Unit, approximately 300 people attended the meeting.

“Crime was discussed and community members were given the opportunity to raise their concerns about crime around their area. All questions were answered and all proposals were acknowledged.”

The Sector commander together with his team gave their cellphone numbers in order to assist the community.

The community were also encouraged to be part of the CPF, become a patroller and join a neighbourhood watch in order to help police in the fight against crime.

“The community was thanked for their attendance and encouraged to report crime,” she added.
