‘Rise! Take your Mat and Walk’ was the theme for this year’s Women’s World Day of Prayer event held at the Randfontein Show on Friday morning, 6 March.

The day started with a praise and worship followed by a musical performance by the Randfontein High School (RHS) Choir and the Wildfire Worship team from the AFM Church.

Various men and women from in and around Randfontein packed the Show Marquee tent to listen to Lynette Beer from Pretoria, a world-renowned thought leader on the subject of human behaviour, who was this year’s guest speaker.

According to Marcelle Mans, Show coordinator, the Women’s World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement of Christian women and takes place in more than 170 countries on the first Friday in March each year.

“For the past 25 years, Randfontein Show has been hosting a Women’s World of Prayer and it has become a firm favourite with many ladies on the West Rand. Each year we have different speakers who very often move the almost 1 000 women in the tent to tears.”
