Caxton, Herald support CANSA Shavathon

The Caxton Local Media family gave some hope to people with cancer by spraying and shaving their hair.

Excitement filled the boardroom at Caxton Local Media’s Joburg West office in Witpoortjie on Thursday, 27 February during a Cansa Shavathon.

Employees shaved and sprayed to show their support to CANSA in solidarity with those affected by the deadly disease.

First up was Clinton Botha, Herald editor, who shaved and sprayed his hair from yellow dots to a purple Mohawk while Herald journalist, Michelle Roodt opted for just the hairspray. Other Caxton Local Media family members to join in were sales representatives, members of the digital and production teams as well as editors Janine Viljoen and Adele Bloem of the Herald’s sister publications, Krugersdorp News and Roodepoort Record.

According to Ester Pretorius of CANSA, the CANSA Shavathon is an annual event held towards the end of February.

“It is a huge income for CANSA and the money raised go towards those affected by cancer.”

She added she had fun with the Caxton Local Media team and thanked each and every one for their support.

Zintle Thubeni, Herald intern said, “Making a small difference in someone’s life is something we should do daily,” while Michelle said, “It is for a good cause”.

Clinton added, “Cancer is a devastating illness that people fight daily. Shaving and spraying my hair for just R50 was the least I could do to show my support.”
