Load-shedding to be downgraded to Stage 2

Eskom stated that, inconvenient as it is, load-shedding is the only way to protect the entire electricity system

Eskom has announced that due to four generating units successfully returning to service during the night, load-shedding will move to Stage 2 from 9am today, 16 February.

Continuing with load-shedding will help to replenish the emergency reserves including the hydro-pumped storage scene levels to better prepare for next week.

Implementing stage 3 load-shedding during the night assisted Eskom in reducing the usage of emergency diesel reserves and to replenish hydro-pumped storage scheme levels.

While the system has improved, Eskom reminds customers that should there be a change in the system and the demand profile, the stage of loadshedding may change.
