One person killed, three injured when taxi rolls

Taxi rolls killing one, injuring three others in the Carletonville area.

One person died and three people sustained minor to moderate injuries when a taxi rolled on Deelkraal Road in Carletonville on Tuesday, 11 February.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said they found the taxi on its roof on the side of the road.

“A man, believed to be in his 30s, was found lying trapped beneath the vehicle while three other men were found nearby. Medics assessed the victims and found that the man beneath the vehicle had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead by provincial services personnel.”

Meiring added that the three other victims were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“They were treated and thereafter transported to Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
