Motorcyclist seriously injured when crashing into pig

A 59-year-old man was left seriously injured yesterday (Monday, 27 January) after his motorcycle had struck a pig on the N1 highway near Randfontein.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics along with another emergency service arrived on scene shortly after 8.30am, only to find the man and his motorcycle lying in the emergency lane.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries. He was in a serious condition,” Meiring said.

He added that the man was treated for his injuries and was provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Mediclinic Emfuleni for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
