West Rand military veterans meet

The South African Defence Force Association (SADFA) West Rand branch appeals to members to sign up.

Military veterans of the South African Defence Force Association (SADFA) on the West Rand gathered at the Greenhills Stadium on Wednesday, 22 January.

According to Emmanuel Sequeira of SADFA’s West Rand branch, the purpose was to inform these members of the benefits they are eligible for and sign up.

According to their official Facebook page, “SADFA was founded on 14 February 2009 to act in the interest of all old members who rendered a service during the existence of the Union Defence Force (UDF) in 1964 and the existence of the SA Defence Force (SADF) in 1994 and the SANDF after 1994. This includes members who served as National Servicemen, in the Commandos, in the Reserve Force and the Permanent Force. Members in uniform as well as civilians who served in the SA Army, SA Air Force, SA Navy and the SA Health Service qualify to join as Full Members.”

Emmanuel added that meetings are held nation-wide to give members clarity.

“Since 1994, these benefits were rolled out, but not everyone was aware of them, because people were not informed.”
