Mother speaks about her child’s first day at school

The mother said her little one cried on the morning of the first day.

When the 2020 Grade 1 learners across South Africa started school with the rest of the learners on Wednesday, 15 January, the Herald visited FJL Wells Primary Mine School to find out what the atmosphere was like.

We managed to speak to Tshegofatso Lafahla, the mother of Grade 1 learner Kelebogile Lafahla, who said her daughter showed excitement to be at school.

“Our morning was very exciting, but she was a bit nervous; she cried, but eventually managed to calm herself down,” Tshegofatso said.
