Karabo in line to be the next Miss Face of Miss Signature

Karabo Pororo of Greenhills, a finalist in the 2019 Miss Face of Miss Signature competition who says it's not only about looks but inner beauty too.

Karabo Pororo is the latest beauty queen to hail from Randfontein and she is hoping to inspire others who have the same passion.

The Herald recently caught up with the 23-year-old when she hosted a personal-hygiene workshop in Elandsvlei as one of the projects required of her as a finalist in the 2019 Face of Miss Signature competition.

Born and raised in Randfontein, Karabo said she always wanted to pursue a career in modelling. Unlike many others with the same aspirations, Karabo wants to use beauty pageantry to empower the disadvantaged.

“I want to equip others with the same passion for the modelling world with useful information and help them go in the right direction. Although this competition is my very first, I am quite encouraged and excited.”

Karabo also wants to dispel the myth that all pageants are about beauty only.

“Actually, when you do succeed, you have the most wonderful opportunities to do good in society. My journey in the Top 10 in my category of the competition has just started, but even if it does stop there, I won’t stop. I will continue making an effort to change society for the better.

“What I am hoping to achieve one day is to host my own pageant – not based on physical attributes but that it will be a platform that will recognise inner beauty,” Karabo added.

The Face of Miss Signature winners will be crowned at Maponya Mall in Soweto on Saturday, 7 December.
