Optimistic matric says it is time to shine

Randfontein Herald, Tumi Riba, Badieile, Ithuteng Secondary School, Julius Tshabangu,

Meet Julius Tshabangu of Ithuteng Secondary School. He is one of many matriculants who are hoping for the best after recently writing his last exam paper.

The Herald caught up with the 19-year-old during a career expo held at the school to find out what his plans for the future were.

Julius said now that 12 years of school were done and dusted, he is committed to furthering his education because he believes the road ahead is a prosperous one.

“It really feels like I am starting a new chapter of my life. I am very grateful for having attended school for more than a decade, as it has shaped me into the kind of young man I am today,” he said.

Julius added that for someone who was born and bred in a rural area such as Badirile, he has overcome all the odds of lacking resources instead of allowing it to discourage him and leave school too soon. He said the protests, power failures and lack of facilities such as WiFi, did not play a role and were not an obstacle.

“Now that I am done with school the future looks bright. I am saying so because I made sure that I worked hard.”

Asked about what career path he wanted to pursue, Julius said he would like to go into the hospitality industry. His institution of choice for next year is Westcol.

“I am happy with how everything went. Now is the time to shine, take my education a step further and be a good example to others,” Julius added.
