Itumeleng LSEN School learner, Basetsana Skosana, has made her school proud when she was named the Female Athlete of Year.

The award was handed to Basetsana during the Department of Gauteng District Awards event at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday, 22 November.

Rebecca Manganyi, her teacher and coach, proudly said the 15-year-old was recognised for many of her outstanding performances as a runner, gymnast and netball player throughout the year.

“Basetsana can be quite a flexible girl and has shown great skill in the different sporting codes. We are very proud of her and is she setting a good example for many other young girls. They also look up to her,” the coach said.

Rebecca added that Basetsana is the captain of the school’s netball squad, which had good results in 2019.

“She has shown learners of our school and of schools in other parts of Gauteng that hard work and dedication ensure the desired results.”
