Johan Booysen, the RAMRA chairman, called on the community to attend the annual general meeting at Laerskool Randfontein from 10am to noon on Friday, 29 November 2019. He said the public is welcome.

On 15 October, Eskom announced that it would interrupt the electricity supply throughout Rand West City this festive season, due to the municipality being in debt to Eskom to the tune of over R230 million. However, Eskom announced on Wednesday, 20 November that it will not proceed … for now …

“We will continue to engage with all the relevant stakeholders and will inform the public by Wednesday, 4 December 2019 of the outcome of the submissions received and the final decision on the matter,” said Dephane Mokoena, of Eskom’s Gauteng Operating Unit.

“We can only successfully oppose the planned interruption of power if we stand together.”
