Man’s body with gunshot wounds found 200 metres from bicycle

A 47-year-old man has been found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the open veld near the Libanon dumping site in Westonaria.

Sergeant Audrey Sefara, the Westonaria Police spokesperson, said the body was found on Wednesday, 30 October.

“It has been alleged that the deceased was killed while travelling to Bekkersdal from work. What is believed to have been his bicycle was found 200 metres away from where his body was found. Westonaria Police have joined forces with other neighbouring police stations to trace the suspects,” Sefara said.

Colonel Selvan Moonsamy condemned the increasing murder rate in the area, saying it has become a great concern within the space of one short week.

Police have also urged people to come forward with credible information that may help to track down and arrest the culprits and remove all illegal firearms from the area.
