Animal sanctuary turns one

Residents and animal lovers arrived in their numbers in support of Castaways Animal Sanctuary's first birthday celebration on Saturday, 2 November.

Castaways Animal Sanctuary in Wilbotsdal celebrated its first birthday with a bang by raising funds for its rescued and adopted animals on Saturday, 2 November.

Louisa Rossouw, the owner of this shelter, said the birthday celebration saw a great turnout.

“Locals came out to support us and families enjoyed many activities including a dance show, face-painting, electrical bull riding and various stalls, to name a few. We truly had a successful day that was enjoyed by everyone. We had lots of fun and laughter, but most importantly, we managed to raise money for animal food, sterilisation, deworming and vaccinations,” Louisa said.

She went on to thank everyone who came out to support the centre when it marked its very first birthday.

“We would also like to encourage the public to always consider adopting these animals because people tend to lose interest in dogs that were once cute puppies. These animals still need their love and warmth,” Louisa added.
