The former train restaurant – one of Randfontein’s most iconic landmarks situated at the Riebeeck Lake – caught fire on Tuesday night, 5 November.

Michelle Roodt, Herald journalist, is currently on scene and described the situation ‘intense’.

“Trees and the landmark are still on fire. There are fears it may spread,” she said.
