Launch of the annual heritage celebration

Bright colours, and different cultures were showcased at the first Annual Heritage Celebration held by the Rand West City Municipality.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) launched their Annual Heritage Celebration at Ramosa Hall, Mohlakeng on Friday, 18 October 2019.

According to a statement released by the RWCLM, this celebration is meant to be a vehicle to integrate, educate and create a rooted culture of respect and recognition of diversity of cultures, beliefs and traditions within the Rand West City, while preserving the rich African heritage.

Through the annual event, the Executive Mayor, councillor Brenda Mahuma intended to integrate communities through culture interaction; promote diversity within the community; celebrate cultural staple food, dance and attire, and other forms of expression; encourage the use of indigenous languages and the preservation of knowledge, also to promote recognition and respect for each other’s culture, as well as patriotism among the indigenous inhabitants of South Africa within Rand West City.
