Fire severely damages house in Randgate

An investigation is under way following a fire at an abandoned house in Randgate.

According to Bennie Mohlabeng, Regional Commander of the Randfontein Fire and Rescue Services, they got a call about a house fire at approximately 07.30am on Monday 21 October. He added that the fire department was on scene at approximately 07.34am.

Mohlabeng said the house had been occupied by homeless people illegally, and it is believed that the owner of the house lives in the US. He added that, as of yet, they don’t have any confirmed information about the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.
