#ThrowbackThursday – 16 October 1987

The Herald goes back, way back, to 16 October 1987 for this week’s #ThrowbackThursday.

It’s #ThrowbackThursday and the Herald went back in time to 16 October 1987 and revisited our entertainment page.

With movies the focus, the Herald caught up with Glen McFarlane, owner of Videon, to tell us how things have changed in the industry, to find out whether or not people are still renting movies, or have opted for modern ways of entertainment.

From 1995, everything was being converted to DVDs, but more and more people are choosing the modern methods, such as live streaming or downloading. However, we still use the most cost-effective method – renting a DVD – for people to get good entertainment.”

When asked about which popular movies he remembers from 1987, Glen said he recalled: Predator, Masters of the Universe, and Over the Top.

Below are some other interesting news items that made headlines in that 1987 edition:

The Celica GT-Four, the latest release from Toyota Japan.
