Churches walk against gender-based violence
Sunday School teachers and learners carried placards and sang songs to denounce gender-based violence and all forms of child abuse.
Children from the West Rand Anglican Church recently came together in Mohlakeng for a Child Ministry Rally.
The event was held at the Mohlakeng St Paul’s Anglican Church. The kids and some Sunday School teachers came from Bekkersdal, Khutsong, Kokosi, Wedela and Carletonville to join the rally.
The day kicked off with Sunday School teachers and learners walking in Lembede and its adjacent streets, carrying placards and singing songs to denounce gender-based violence and all forms of child abuse.
“This could not have come at a better time for us as a church to demonstrate the pain and stress that children face,” said Father Kagelelo Mphetolang of the Mohlakeng St Paul’s Anglican Church.
After the walk there was a Bible quiz, a choral music competition, drama and beauty show.
