Four inhale harmful smoke from Middelvlei veld fire

Runaway veld fire next to the R559 in Middelvlei caused four people to inhale harmful smoke.

Four people were assessed for smoke inhalation but declined ambulance transportation to hospital after trying to douse the flames of a runaway veld fire.

Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesperson said they arrived at the scene next to the R559 in Middelvlei last Friday (13 September) about 10.30am.

“Medics assessed all the patients on scene and they were found to be in a stable condition.

“The fire department and local community eventually doused the fire.”
