Five injured as bakkie rolls on R559

Five men were flung from a bakkie when it rolled on the R559 on Saturday. Two people sustained serious injuries.

Five men were flung from the back of a bakkie and injured when it rolled out of control on the R559 near Randfontein on Saturday night (14 September).

Ross Campbell, ER24 spokesperson said they arrived on scene at about 11.40pm to find the five men lying on the ground next to the road.

“A 25-year-old man was found to have suffered serious injuries and a 29-year-old had critical injuries. They were treated and stabilised on the scene before being transported to a private hospital in Randfontein for further care.

“Provincial services treated the other three men for minor injuries and transported them to Leratong Hospital. Their ages vary from mid 20s to early 30s. The driver and passenger of the bakkie did not sustain any injuries and declined transport to hospital.”

Campbell added that the police as well as the Fire Department were on the scene for further investigations.
