Man critically injured in pedestrian accident

Man in his 30s critically injured in pedestrian accident in Carletonville.

A man believed to be in his 30s was left critically injured when he was struck by a bakkie on the R500 in Carletonville earlier this week.

Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokesperson, said they arrived on the scene shortly before 6pm on Monday, 2 September to find the pedestrian lying on the side of the road. The bakkie that had struck the man was found parked a short distance away.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition. He was treated for his injuries and was thereafter rushed to the Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.

“The driver of the bakkie fortunately escaped injury. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
