Rubbish dumped at municipality in protest of poor services

Tshidiso Thlaripe, RWCLM spokesperson said in a statement, “We are aware of the actions by AfriForum members who dumped waste at the municipal building. The municipality is in the process of seeking a private contractor who will collect refuse throughout Rand West City while the management and unions are still trying to find solutions to the issues raised by SAMWU.

“While we acknowledge our failure to collect refuse for the past two weeks, we discourage the grandstand action as taken by Afriforum. Their action undermined the spirit of self-respect and reveals some distasteful undertones.

“The municipality is still committed to providing quality services to our communities and we will post a schedule which will address backlogs on our website by Tuesday.”

Refuse bags were dumped outside the municipal offices as early as 5am.
