Cornelia a favourite for Joburg Spar Women’s challenge

Randfontein's Cornelia Joubert is considered one of the contenders for the Joburg SPAR Women’s Challenge on 6 October.

Local girl, Cornelia Joubert, who runs for Boxer Athletics Club, is considered one of the contenders for the Joburg SPAR Women’s Challenge to be held at Marks Park Sports Club on Sunday, 6 October.

The Joburg race is the last in the series of six races that make up the SPAR Grand Prix. SPAR and Caxton urge as many people as possible to come along and take on the Joburg race.

Cornelia recently won the Waterfront Mall 10km race and on that very same day went on to finish second at the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) Cross-country Championships – once again having to play second fiddle to rival, Farida Zwane from Tembisa Athletics Club.

“While I am looking forward to the Spar Ladies Race in October, I am also working hard to do my best at the SA Marathon Championships and the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon in September.”

She will then be joined by an army of local athletes at the SA Cross-country Championships to be hosted in Pretoria, which is also in September.

The local athletes include the likes of seniors Kabelo Melamu, Motlatsi Sesing, Andries Sesedi, and Phemelo Ntoe, as well as sisters Motlatsi Sesing Junior and Katlego Sesing.
