Get to know a ‘Teiner’ #124 — Queen Makhubo

The 124th person in the Herald’s Get to know a Randfonteiner project introduces herself.

Meet our ‘Teiner’ of the week, 21-year-old Queen Makhubo of Toekomsrus, who said she has dedicated her life to helping those who are less fortunate and vulnerable.

“I do this simply out of the goodness of my heart,” Queen said.

Although she volunteers at Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA), Queen is mostly known for being a beauty queen.

“No pun intended,” she said. She added that through WAWA, she is contributing to the well-being of her fellow residents and that is what fulfills her.

Some of the things that I have done include participating in programmes that empower abused women and this is one of the reasons why I decided to join WAWA,” Queen said.

Asked what she likes doing in her spare time, this mother of a four-year-old son said she enjoyed spending time with him.

“I am young and very ambitious. I think as the youth we have a responsibility to make sure that we improve our surroundings, because that is how we can shape the future of this country for the better. We can start doing this by empowering others,” Queen added.
