We caught up with our local veterinarian, Dr Hendrick Naudé, who spoke to us about what he normally deals with when dogs are brought to the clinic for a check-up or treatment.

Dr Naudé, who has indicated that the number of attacks has decreased, said this is because fewer vicious dogs are being kept as pets.

“People are now choosing dogs that are more docile,” Dr Naude said. In the article, the Herald stated that reports received from local veterinary surgeons suggested that Randfontein was quiet by comparison to other areas.

The 1986 Retail Data Library survey on media consumption has recently been published and some interesting gifures have come to light on the readership of the Randfontein Herald. The survey, which was done between August and December the previous year gave the pattern of buying, spending, reading, entertainment, consumerism and a variety of other aspects of two major factors in marketing, namely the male household head and the female principal purchaser. Randfontein Herald showed a tremendous increase of 14 percent since the 1985 RDL survey was done.
