The body of a man believed to be in his late thirties was found in the veld in Zuurbekom last week.
Bekkersdal Police are investigating a case of murder.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said, “The body was discovered by a passer-by in the open veld near Plot 56 at about 8am on Friday, 5 July.

“The victim’s hands and feet were tied with an electric wire and he is badly bruised. He was wearing brown trousers, and a blue jersey with brown shoes. His identity is unknown at this stage, and so is the motive for his killing, but police believe he was murdered elsewhere and dumped.”
