Fifteen injured in various crashes in Westonaria

A number of accidents this past weekend in Westonaria left 15 injured.

Numerous people sustained various injuries in several collisions across Westonaria during the weekend.

According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, they attended to five collisions.

“On Friday evening (5 July), paramedics attended to a collision on the R28 near Hillshaven in which an adult sustained serious injury and two children, aged between eight and 10 years, sustained moderate injuries. It is understood that the driver of a taxi had lost control and collided head-on with a bakkie, injuring the three occupants of the bakkie – a man and his two daughters.

“A collision on Lisbon Road in Westonaria left one person with moderate injuries. During the early hours of Saturday morning (6 July), paramedics found the single occupant outside the vehicle. The 35-year-old man was treated on scene and transported to a nearby hospital.

“Later that same day, paramedics attended to two collisions involving several people. A taxi collision on Kloof Road involved 14 people. However, only five were transported to hospital for further care. In another collision at approximately 9.30pm, an hour after the previous one, paramedics attended to a rear-end collision along the R28 near Edwards Street which left five people injured.

“Also at about 9.30am on Sunday, 7 July, paramedics attended to a motorbike collision which left the rider with moderate injuries. The vehicle that had crashed into the motorbike allegedly left the scene before emergency services arrived.”
