Harmony miner killed in shaft accident at its Kusasalethu mine near Carletonville.

It has been officially confirmed that a miner was killed at Harmony’s Kusasalethu mine near Carletonville on Friday, 28 June.

Peter Steenkamp, chief executive officer of Gold Mining Company Ltd, said in a statement issued on Monday morning, 1 July that, “We regret to advise that an employee was fatally injured following a shaft-related incident that evening.

“We are extremely saddened by the loss of our colleague. We wish to express our deepest condolences to the deceased employee’s family, friends and colleagues. An investigation into the incident is under way.”
