The West Rand Toastmasters welcomed their newest members as well as the new committee during their 465th meeting yesterday (20 June).
According to Glen Campbell, Vice President Public Relations of West Rand Toast Masters, the meeting was called to order by Lynnette Harris from Randburg.
“Our Outgoing President, Esther Dreyer from Randfontein, gave the welcome and apologies. She yielded control to our Toastmaster of the Evening, Lynnette. Tebogo Majokna, our Outgoing Divisional Director chaired the Installations Ceremony,” she said.
Andre Diedericks from Roodepoort proposed the Toast to Toastmasters International and Ines Leal from Roodepoort took on the role of Joke Master.
“We had two prepared speeches given by Andre and Edna Nkhawazi from Roodepoort,” she said.
Six new members were introduced and many awards were given during the meeting. The highlight of the evening was the introduction of the new committee.
“Our new committee is as follows: Jeffrey Nkhawzi is Sergeant-At-Arms and Edna is Treasurer with Jacqui Motaung as secretary. My position in the committee remains unchanged. Thato Majela is Vice President Membership, Malcom Harris is Vice President Education and Lynette is our new President,” Glen announced.
“Our new Committee Members will be attending the Club Officers Training on 6 July and our next meeting will be held on 4 July at Discovery Bowling Club,” she concluded.
