West Rand stop-and-search operation held on major routes

A total of 19 traffic fines were issued, and 210 vehicles and 629 people were searched during a police operation held on major routes on the West Rand.

Police from Randfontein, Westonaria and Bekkersdal as well as local Community Policing Forum members held an operation from 9am to 3pm on the N12, P111/ R501 and the R28 roads on Friday, 7 June.

Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, said that the operation was under the command of Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander.

“During the operation, various successes were made. A total of 19 traffic fines were issued, one person was found to be in possession of dagga, one second-hand dealer was closed in Randfontein and 210 vehicles as well as 629 people were searched.”
