Man caught with plastic bags full of dagga

Man, 37, arrested after four plastic bags filled with dagga were found in his possession.

A 37-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of four plastic bags full of dagga on Thursday, 6 June.

The arrest was made on the N12 near Bekkersdal at about 3.30pm.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, “Constables Zuko Mpatwa and Thumeka Ntlobe were on duty during a crime prevention operation when they spotted a man carrying a bag.

“They decided to stop and search him. Inside the bag, they found four plastic bags full of dagga. They arrested him and have since charged him with with possession of drugs,” Lefakane said.

Lefakane said the suspect is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.

Colonel Tinus Swart, Bekkersdal Police’s station commander, commended the members for acting pro-actively and urged them to continue with the random stop-and-search operations on the N12.
