An Integrated Rural Safety Operation in Bekkersdal lead to 33 arrests early on Wednesday morning, 22 May.
The operation was conducted by police from the West Rand District, Community Police Forum members (CPF) and other law enforcement agencies.

A total of 33 arrests were made for various crimes including undocumented persons, illegal mining, and possession of dagga, while fines were issues for non-compliance in respect of illegal trading and selling of expired products.
“All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon,” Lefakane said.

“We will ensure that we conduct this kind of operations more often, until our communities are at peace,” Swart said.
