Two people were killed and eight others injured when the bakkie they were travelling in rolled on the N12 between Westonaria and Fochville on Sunday morning, 19 May.
Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said paramedics along with other services arrived on scene at about 11.13am to find a bakkie upright on the side of the road.
“The passengers from the vehicle were found lying all around. Emergency personnel assessed the victims and found that a man and a woman had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead on the scene,” Meiring said.
He added that eight other victims were assessed and were found with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
“They were treated and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, one critically injured patient was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to Sunshine Hospital and the remaining patients were transported to various facilities for further care.
“The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” he concluded.
