Matriculant arrested for allegedly selling dagga at a high school in Randfontein.

An 18-year-old learner was arrested at his high school for allegedly selling dagga.

Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest at a school in Randfontein at about 9.45am on Friday, 10 May.

“It was alleged that one of the teachers received information about a Grade 12 learner who was in possession of dagga and investigated the allegations.

“The boy was searched and a cellphone box containing 12 dagga joints that were allegedly ready to be sold was found. The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon,” she said.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein station commander, is appealing to the parents to please look after their children.

“It is so easy for our children to be bullied – make sure you talk to your child or children and know who they associate themselves with,” he said.
