Fundraiser held with the aim to send dancers to Croatia

Fundraiser held for five dancers of Snap Back Studio who will be going to Croatia.

Randfontein’s Snap Back Studio held a fundraiser at PLG Greenhills Randfontein Academy for five of its dancers who will be taking part in the DanceStar World Finals in Croatia.

“Obviously, qualifying to go to Croatia comes with expenses. We are looking at accommodation, flight tickets and the actual entry fees to take part in the finals,” Caitlin Anne Fitzpatrick, manager of the Snap Back Studio said.

Luané Naudé and Mieke Oosthuizen , two of the dancers at the Randfontein Snap Back Studio.

Caitlin said Snap Back Studio will need to raise more money, as there will surely be more dancers who qualify for the competition.

“This function was basically just to help all the parents of our dancers pay for the dancers’ trip,” Caitlin added.

She said the trip will consist of the qualifying rounds followed by the actual competition, and that is why it will take ten days.

“There will also be musical theatre, tap, modern and contemporary dances during some of the time and then we will have the finals and the gala evening.”

Caitlin said funds were also raised by having local singing sensation, Tanya V, perform at the fundraiser.

“We charged an entrance fee which included sitting at a table where snacks were provided, and the entire night’s entertainment. We also sold boerewors rolls and sweets on the side for all those who were in attendance.”

Caitlin said the purpose of taking part in the competition is so that the children can excel in their dancing. “The studio is accredited and is part of the Association of International Teachers (AID), and we are teaching the children according to a world-renowned syllabus,” Caitlin added.
