Get to know a ‘Teiner #107 – Khanyi November

The 107th person in the Herald’s Get to know a Randfonteiner project introduces herself.

Meet our Teiner of the Week, 45-year-old Khanyi November, who was born in Kimberley but moved to Mohlakeng in Randfontein in 2004.

One of the things you will notice about Khanyi is that she is a shy person, but in her own community, she is known to the social workers as someone who helps job-seekers, especially those who want to work as cleaners, nannies and waiters in Randfontein.

Asked about why she is determined to give a helping hand to people, Khanyi said she is someone who understands struggle. “Therefore, I’ve made it my mission to make sure I do my bit to help better their lives,” she said.

Khanyi, who currently works as a restaurant staffer, said she loves and enjoys her job because through it she is able to feed her two daughters, and create a better future for them.

“One thing I want to achieve is to make sure that my children secure a good future for themselves,” Khanyi said.

Khanyi said seeing that people are having a difficult time getting jobs, she wants to be a part of the solution by opening a business to employ others.

“It has to be how I give back to the community, because I feel that I am responsible for making sure that all the things that I have learned are passed down to the new generation,” Khanyi said.
