Update: RWCLM employees finally paid

Salaries were paid soon after employees of the Rand West City Local Municipality gathered in front of the municipal building on Monday morning.

It was mission accomplished for the employees of the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) who gathered in front of the municipal building yesterday morning, 25 March to get answers as to why they haven’t received their salaries. RWCLM paid them later the same day.

Municipal employees’ salaries are usually paid in the early hours of the 25th of each month, but according to an employee who does not want to be identified, this did not happen yesterday and they wanted answers as to why they had not been paid.

Tshidiso Thlaripe, RWCLM spokesperson, said although the salaries were not paid on time, they were paid on the same day.

“We want to extend our apology to the employees for having paid them only later on Monday. We can give the assurance that all employees have received their salaries on Monday.

“We also want to take the opportunity to apologise to the community for the interruption during which employees were not able to deliver services. Our services will continue as normal,” he said.
