Cables were stolen from a substation in Venterspost and left residents without power since late Sunday, 24 March.
Tshidiso Thlaripe, Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson, confirmed to the Herald on Monday, 25 March that they are working hard to fix the problem before the end of the day. “Contractors are busy on the site. Cables were stolen but the power will be restored today,” he said.

One of the residents of Venterspost, Demi van Wyk, said that the power went off just before midnight. She said they are experiencing municipal problems on a daily basis and that residents are fed up.
