Randfontein police on the airwaves

The officers gave tips on how to be vigilant and careful, and they reminded the listeners that police members will never ask the public for money.

The Randfontein Police spokesperson, Constable Carmen Hendricks, together with Captain Sibiya of the Kagiso Police Station visited Westside FM in Kagiso on Tuesday 12 March to raise awareness about crime in both their areas.

The crimes that were highlighted included house robberies; theft; common robberies; house break-ins; rape; drug abuse and scams.

While on air, the officers gave tips on how to be vigilant and careful, and they reminded the listeners that police members will never ask the public for money.

“The youth were also asked to help their community by giving out information and helping the police to bring suspects to book. The community was urged to get involved in CPFs and patrols,” Hendricks said.

She added that an appeal was made to the public to keep within the law during and after the elections.

“The public was also reminded to keep all emergency numbers, such as the cellphone numbers of the sector vehicles and the police stations in their respective areas at hand,” Hendricks added.
