A 35-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 12 March, for possession of stolen vehicle that was hijacked in June last year in Mamelodi, Pretoria.
Police said the arrest came after a police vehicle tracking unit received a signal that was sent by the tracker company on the vehicle.
“It is alleged the members from the Protea K9 Unit were conducting their routine crime-prevention duties on the day, shortly before they spotted the vehicle,” Sergeant Linkie Lefakane said.
Lefakane said preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had been hijacked.
“The suspect will be charged and is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon,” Lefakane added.
