Man murdered in Simunye

The victim succumbed to his chest injuries shortly after arriving at Bekkersdal Clinic.

A 37-year-old male resident of Simunye was declared dead shortly after arriving at Bekkersdal Clinic on Saturday, 2 March at 2:30am, after he had been injured in an alleged attack. Police said a murder case has since been opened.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal police spokesperson, the victim was found lying in Matimba Street with an injury to his chest.

“After rushing to the scene, the victim’s brother then rushed him to Bekkersdal Clinic where he died. The motive for the attack is unknown, but investigations are continuing,” Lefakane said.

Lefakane also said the police are urging the public to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
