SuperSpar gives away lots of formula milk

The Golden Kids School and St. John the Divine Orphans and Outreach home-based care centre received a whole lot of formula milk from Randfontein SuperSpar.

Randfontein SuperSpar donated a large quantity of formula milk to the Golden Kids School and St John the Divine Orphans and Outreach home-based care centre on Tuesday, 19 February.

According to a press statement released by SuperSpar, the milk is a much-needed essential item for the dietary requirements of the children at both organisations.

Riaz Dawood, co-owner of Randfontein SuperSpar, handing over the milk to Itumeleng Mokone, CEO of Golden Kids School.

Itumeleng Mokone, CEO of Golden Kids, who thanked the SuperSpar for the donation, said, “Golden Kids is a new school that we are trying to grow. The milk will be put to good use.”

Patricia Marite, manager of St John the Divine Orphans and Outreach Centre, also expressed her thanks for the donation and said it was really needed at the centre.

“Today I feel like crying with joy. We have so many children that really need this milk. Among them are a few children that are really malnourished and need that extra nourishment. This is going to be such a great help!”

Patricia also said their non-profit organisation supports about four hundred children, ranging from five-year-olds to high school kids, on a daily basis.

“These are children living with guardians, grannies, extended family or youth-headed households. They come here daily for lunch, counselling and assistance with homework,” Patricia added.

Safura Dawood, co-owner of Randfontein SuperSpar said,”It is our responsibility to look after our own community, especially when they are in need.

“What we like about St John’s is that they help the kids with their homework, and I think this where there is a great need because many children go home to old grandmothers who cannot help them. That could lead to frustration on the part of kids, who eventually drop out of school,” Safura added.
