#Municipal Monday: Robinson Bridge still dangerous

VIDEO: The Robinson Bridge into Randfontein, just off the R28, still poses a danger to pedestrians and motorists.

Robinson — It has been a year since the Herald reported that the Robinson Bridge into Randfontein just off the R28 was a danger to pedestrians and motorists, and this is still the case.

According to Peter Dick, councillor for Ward 9, with the Randfontein Show just two weeks away, the bridge will be overburdened with traffic as many people will be coming to town for the show.

“All the council does is to patch small sections here and there. It seems like they only do that when it’s time for the Show or when they know that there will be important visitors in town, but they are not doing any proper work,” Dick said.

In the Herald’s exclusive published on 13 April 2018, Dick said the bridge was constructed during the 1940s and has long been an eyesore to the community due to the wear and tear it has endured. The situation has worsened as the years go by.
