#ThrowbackThursday – 6 February 1987

The Herald goes back, way back, to 6 February 1987, for this week’s #ThrowbackThursday.

It’s #ThrowbackThursday and the Herald went back in time to 6 February 1987 to see what was in the news.

On page 40, in the sports section of that week’s edition, the Herald published a story under the headline ‘Braam Stolz bobaas’, in which the now-deceased Braam was announced as the 1986 Randfontein Roller Pigeon Club champion (Randfontein Rollerduifklub-kampioen) during a prize-giving.

The Herald has since caught up with André Meyer, Braam’s friend and fellow club member, who spoke about Braam’s long-time business and the good memories it had made.

Other news that made headlines at the time includes:

Caxton draws up a new political policy for editorial sections.
Health awareness campaign.
Run up to 1987’s Valentine’s Day, which fell on a Saturday.
