Chief Yako introduced to Mohlakeng

Chief Zanemvula Yako was introduced to the community of Mohlakeng and the role of Chiefdom in an urban settlement was discussed this past weekend.

The Ndzundza Ndlane Traditional Council introduced Chief Zanemvula Yako to the community of Mohlakeng at the Mohlakeng Recreational Centre on Saturday, 2 February.

The Traditional Council is a Chiefdom under the leadership of Chief Zanemvula Yako, who was appointed by the Kingdom of Amandebele under Ingwenyama Yama-Ndzundza, his Majesty, King Mabhoko III.

Traditional dancers took to the stage during the ceremony.

According to Kgang Thekiso, Secretary of the Traditional Council, the event focused on the introduction of the Chief to the community of Mohlakeng, and the role of Chiefdom in an urban settlement.

The main address was made by Chief Magodongo of the Magodongo Traditional Council of Ekurhuleni, who also led the office of iNgwenyama King Mabhoko III in Tshwane.

The prominent community members in attendance included Ntsiki Khumalo, the wife of the Rand West City Executive Mayor, Mzi Khumalo; Nocawe Stein, the wife of Reverend Stein, and Mandla Hamnca who heads the men’s NPO initiative movement, among others. The event was also graced by traditional dancers, mainly from the Trisano Mmogo Cultural Group.
