Pillar of Strength Development centre reaches out to the community

Skills development programme held at Randgate Community Hall to teach the public various skills.

Pillar of Strength Ministries held a skills development programme at the Randgate Community Hall on Friday, 1 February.

Dineo Molotsane, from Pillar of Strength Ministries, said the aim of the programme was to educate the community with skills for personal development, computer literacy, business management and catering.

Part of its mandate was to reduce unemployment among the youth.

“Our mandate is to equip young people who come from disadvantaged communities with skills that would enable them to enter the job market and also empower them to open their own cooperatives,” Dineo said.

She said the socio-economic state of the young people is extremely low and the government administration cannot employ all of them.

“We saw that the best way to reduce the unemployment rate is through skills and development training.”

She said since starting the initiative, there have been sixty beneficiaries.
