Bekkersdal Police have identified two suspects involved in a robbery at a scrapyard near the N12 in Zuurbekom recently.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said at about 3.15pm on Friday, 11 January, the business was targeted by four men. The owner, his employees and a customer were robbed.
“It is alleged the owner was at his business when he was accosted by four men, one armed with a firearm. The armed suspect demanded money from the owner while the others were busy searching and robbing the workers and a customer. They made their way out with an undisclosed amount of money, jewellery and smartphones.

“A case was reported to the police and some suspects are still at large. The victim was able to identify two of the four suspects through an ID kit.”
Lefakane said according to the victim, the first suspect is slender, 1,68m tall, light in complexion with black spots on his face and was wearing a black cap. The second suspect is of medium build, also 1,68 m tall and dark in complexion.
“Both suspects were speaking Zulu.”
