Youngster nabbed for forging signature of Police captain

He was arrested for fraud because he forged the signature of a captain in the South African Police Service.

A 22-year-old was arrested for fraud at Station Mall in the Randfontein CBD on Wednesday, 16 January.

Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said while officers were doing patrols at the mall they noticed a group of suspicious-looking youngsters. They saw one of them signing a document. It turned out that the young man was illegally signing an application to study at Westcol College, pretending to be a commissioner of oath,” she said.

The member introduced himself, produced his appointment card and questioned the young man.

“The youngster was arrested for fraud because on the form that he was going to hand in at Westcol College he forged the signature of a captain in the South African Police Service,” Hendricks added.

The suspect will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon.
